To create a decorative candlestick with our own hands, we will use:
- a glass or a glass;
- water based paint;
- PVA glue;
- decorative napkins;
- color for paint / watercolor;
- a sponge;
- heart from felt and thick burlap threads as a decor;
- transparent silicone glue;
- spray spray in the spray can.
At the first stage of work, we proceed to tinting the surface of the glass or glass. In order for the paint to lie well on the surface, first degrease and dry the glass surface. We apply paint to the glass with a sponge in several stages, allowing each layer to dry thoroughly. For tinting, it is best to use white paint, and the necessary shade for a future candlestick can be given already at the final stages of decor.
While the surface of the glass dries, we cut out elements from the decorative napkin with which we will decorate the candlestick. It is better to cut out more components and “figure” directly on the surface of the glass, which ones are suitable for decoration, and which ones can be discarded so as not to overload the candlestick with decor.
Using PVA glue, we fix the decorative elements of the napkin on the surface of the glass. Do not forget to smooth the wrinkles well and expel air bubbles from under the napkins, just do it very carefully so as not to tear.
We dry the surface of the glass, and, adding a little color of the desired color to the paint, we tint the surface in the necessary shade to smooth the color between the glued elements and the white surface. Color can be replaced with ordinary watercolor paints. Remember that after the paint dries, its color will become less saturated. Let the paint dry. In addition, the leg of the glass can be decorated with a felt heart and severe burlap thread, or with any other decor you have. We fix it with transparent silicone glue. It is advisable not to use a large number of decorative elements and it is necessary to carefully ensure that subsequently they do not touch the candle, but are under the base of the glass leg.
If the candlestick is planned to be used once, then the decor can not be fixed, and after a romantic evening, soak the glass in water and remove paint from it, giving the glass its original appearance. If the manufactured candlestick will be used repeatedly, it is best to open the surface with a special spray varnish so that it can be washed or wiped with a damp cloth if necessary. Now it remains only to light candles and indulge in romance.
