Chrome inscriptions, numbers and other elements on a car - this does not always look beautiful. And sometimes - even wretchedly.

Many car owners prefer exclusively plastic parts without any coatings, repainted in black or other colors.

If you are one of them, then you will probably be interested in learning a simple working way how to remove chrome from plastic. This will require ferric chloride. For 1 kg, you need to take 3 liters of water.

The main stages of work

First of all, we pour water into a plastic container. Then add a little ferric chloride and mix.

If you add water to ferric chloride, then it will begin to boil, and the plastic container will deform.

Metal containers for this procedure cannot be used. For mixing, you also need to take a plastic spatula or something similar.

Please note: the more concentrated the solution, the faster the chrome will “peel off” from the plastic.

When the solution of ferric chloride is ready, immerse plastic parts into it. Be sure to wear special rubber gloves.

Leave the details to "swim" at night. If you do this in the afternoon, you will have to wait about 6-8 hours (sometimes longer).

Then, the parts soaked in ferric chloride should be washed with water, after which (if necessary) we skin, be sure to primer and paint.
