Sometimes even with the help of superglue it is not possible to reliably and firmly glue some plastic parts. However, there is one trick that many come in handy.
In combination with ordinary baking soda, which is found in every kitchen, superglue works more efficiently, the gluing place is very durable.
The author shows the effect of the combined action of baking soda and superglue on the example of his coffee maker, in which a plastic handle broke off.
The main stages of work
First of all, it will be necessary to apply superglue to that part of the plastic that remains inside the coffee maker body. Then apply glue to the handle itself.
We glue the plastic handle to our “native” place and wait a few seconds until the glue sets.
The handle, of course, stuck, but such a connection is unreliable. To strengthen it, you will need soda.
We apply superglue at the junction of the two parts of the handle, and until it is dry, sprinkle baking soda on top.
The same procedure will need to be performed on the back of the plastic handle. Excess soda just shake off.
What is the trick?
In this case, sodium bicarbonate acts as a reinforcing (binding) substance.
As a result, the connection will be more reliable and durable, compared with if you would use only glue.
In this way, you can glue any plastic parts - it will hold tight.
