"Pocket" holes in the workpieces (connection "oblique screw") - this is one of the most popular ways to connect wooden parts. Thanks to this method, it is possible to hide the caps of self-tapping screws.

In this review, the author shows how to make a jig with a latch (clamp) for do-it-yourself screw connections. Such homemade work is useful to everyone who often works with wood.

In addition, this conductor has a "function" dust extraction, which is formed during drilling holes. A hole is provided in the housing into which a nozzle with a hose from a vacuum cleaner is inserted.

Conductor manufacturing process

First of all, we make a conductor for drilling holes for the "oblique screw". This will require pieces of wooden lamellas and pieces of tubes that act as guides.

The author places the conductor in a case made of three plywood blanks. In one of the workpieces, there is just a hole for attaching a pipe with a hose from a vacuum cleaner.

The case for the conductor is attached to the base of plywood. A joinery clamp is also attached to the base. Its task is to fix the workpiece while drilling holes under the "oblique screw".

For details on how to make a jig with a latch for the "oblique screw" connections with your own hands, we recommend that you look in this video.
