Each summer resident knows that high beds warmer better. And heat is the key to the rapid development of any garden culture.
The classic sides of the beds from the boards are short-lived. Due to constant contact with moisture, the tree quickly turns into dust.
Also, this environment is very actively mastered by ants, which are difficult to fight. In this review, the author tells how to independently make high beds in a greenhouse from slate.
The main stages of work
First you need to seriously approach the choice of material. Do not confuse flat slate with DSP. Cement bonded particleboard contains sawdust, due to which it can be deformed by moisture. If your plates still turned out to be uneven, you can leave them under oppression.
On the perimeter, attach the slate with screws to the skeleton of the greenhouse. You need to be careful so as not to split the plates. It is easiest to secure the joints with pieces of drywall guides 20 cm long.
Put them on top at the junction of the plates and fasten with screws. Remember to pre-drill holes so that the material does not crack.
The opposite side is not so easy to fix. For each plate you need to make your own holder. Otherwise, under pressure from the ground, the bed will creep over time.
On a profile of 70-80 cm, weld wide metal sheets with holes for mounting plates. If you don’t have welding, you can drive in reinforcement around the beds, but then the appearance will suffer.
First, pull the cord at the height you need. Drive the profile at this level. Now you can fix the slate with screws.
The joints of the plates also cover with profile sections. This is necessary for safety, so that when working on the garden bed you will not get injured on sharp edges.
Now it remains only to level the soil, add soil, if necessary, and you can wait for the crop. In such a bed, a balance of heat and humidity is perfectly maintained. And slate will last for many decades.
