In the process of working in a home workshop or garage, it is often necessary to process delicate and soft materials. If you press them with steel jaws, you can damage the surface.

Especially for this, the master proposes to use simple quick-release linings on the lips of a bench vise made of two wooden bars.

And the first thing to do is to cut off two wooden blocks of the same size. Alternatively, you can saw plywood sticks about 40 mm thick.

The main stages of work

In the middle of each workpiece, one blind hole must be drilled into which magnets will then be installed. Accordingly, the diameter of the holes will depend on what diameter the magnet itself will be.

After that, it is necessary to press round neodymium magnets into the drilled holes. For greater reliability, the master uses hot-melt adhesive - so that the magnets do not fall out of their "nests" over time.

The result is simple quick-release wooden linings on the lips of a bench vise, which are useful when working with delicate and soft materials.

For more information on how to make such linings for a vise with your own hands, see the video on our website. Write in the comments what you think about this idea?
