Need an inexpensive welding tool for your home? At the same time, do you want him to look prettier than his factory "brothers"? No problem! You can make a very simple and convenient welding holder from the handle of a car gearbox.

In addition to the old gear knob from the car, to make this homemade product you will still need a stud, a cap nut, a wing nut, a nut with a press washer and a regular washer.

First of all, you need to drill a through hole in the upper part of the handle - this can be done with a conventional drill (if you have the right diameter at hand) or with a step drill.

The main stages of work

After the through hole is drilled, you need to insert a stud with a cap nut into it, and then cut off the excess part of the stud with a grinder, clamping it with a vice.

Next, you will need to drill a hole in the part of the stud that extends beyond the handle. In order not to spoil the thread when fixing the stud in a vice, you can use two boards or pieces of plywood.

At the last stage, it remains only to connect the welding cable to the stud and fix the electrode. The disadvantage of this design is its fragility. Such a derzhak will not last long.

Yes, and you can’t install the electrode at an angle. This can also be considered a minus. For details on how to make a simple welding holder from a car gearshift knob with your own hands, see the video on the website.
