In a country house or in the country, very many store blanks for the winter in the cellar. And in order not to go outside, they equip the cellar indoors. In order to make a beautiful and hidden hatch, it does not take much time.

For manufacturing, you will need rectangular pipes (20x40 mm) of various sections, a metal corner (50x50 mm), a pair of loops, a small sheet of gypsum fiber sheet (GVL), a latch-lock, gas lifts (gas piston shock absorbers, furniture) and some experience of metalwork and welding.

To begin with, we will assemble the base for the hatch from a square pipe and in the center we will make stiffeners, according to the drawing and the given dimensions. Further, according to the size of the base, we adjust the frame from the corner.

The main stages of work

After that, you can already weld the corners for the loops. We cut the necessary holes in the corners and install the loops. We mark all the joints and weld the loops to the joints. We weld the corners at the places of future gas lifts and screw them to the base and frame. Grinder clean all welds.

The next step is to fasten the latch-lock for the door to the base and fasten the GVL sheet. Next, we install on the manhole in the cellar. Check the performance of the design.

If you plan to lay on the hatch flooring in the form of porcelain stoneware or any other tile, then you need to take care of the stopper. Many make a metal stopper with holes, but you can do with ordinary bolts and a cable.

To do this, he makes holes in the frame and the central stiffener of the base, fasten the bolts and hook the cable to the required length. A detailed device and installation of this hatch can be seen in the video below.
