Using a makeshift roller it is very convenient to lay bituminous vibration-noise insulation on a machine. And this device is useful to everyone who is engaged in the repair of cars with their own hands.
Moreover, you can make such a roller from the most ordinary trash, which can be found in the garage without problems. And thanks to the use of the silent block, the pressure from the roller to the insulation surface is evenly distributed.
So, for the manufacture of a homemade roller, the following materials will be required: an old handle from the jack, a floating silent block from the car, and a pipe segment with a diameter of 40 mm with an external thread.
Also for this homemade product you will need a piece of a square bar 10 * 10 mm, a long bolt and 2 nuts to it (suitable in diameter).
The main stages of work
A bolt is inserted into the hole in the silent block, on which two nuts are screwed. The excess part of the bolt is cut off by a grinder. The silent block itself is placed inside a pipe with an external thread. And a piece of a square bar is welded to the cap of the bolt.
At the next stage, part of the steel square must be cut off with a grinder, and then welded back, but already perpendicularly. Welds need to be cleaned - for a more aesthetic look.
At the last stage of the work, it will be necessary to weld the handle from the jack, clean the welding spots, and then assemble all the components “to the heap”.
